Card of the month for March 2025 meets the Card of the Year...
How can embracing the energies of these cards help us make the most of this month?
Here is our card to embrace during March 2025…
Let’s Tarot…
Malika (Queen) of Cups
The Malika of Cups sits, in bliss, in her private courtyard surrounded by beautiful peacocks, and the gentle, meditative sound of a small fountain. Her hands and face are facing upwards, in an attitude of Divine worship. She is in the moment.
Cups represent the element of water, which in turn corresponds to emotions and intuition. The Tarot Queens also represent the water element, and the Queen of Cups is the queen of those qualities, Water of Water. She is guided by her heart, empathy, and her psychic awareness. She will care deeply for you, and guide you gently and intuitively, when you are struggling to find a way forwards and things are just too much.
Astrologically, for March, and perfectly in tune with the energy of this card…
With the Sun entering Pisces, there is often a heightened focus on introspection, spirituality, and emotional depth. Our sensitivity to the world around us increases, and we may find ourselves more attuned to the invisible realms—whether they be creative, emotional, or spiritual. It's a time when we may feel the pull of our dreams and intuition and when the boundaries between reality and imagination blur.
From Alison Marie Dale at Astrum Opus1
All of the Tarot Queens represent the divine feminine energies of intuition, understanding and nurturing (note: this energy represents an energetic archetype, rather than a gender, and is a part of us all). These are internalised energies, an integral part of who they are, rather than expressed as an external power, which is nature of the Kings. This month we are invited to embrace this energy in our own lives.
Tarot Court Cards are multifaceted in the ways in which we can interpret them, and most Tarot Readers agree that we can think of them as representing an aspect of ourselves; and/or a person in our own lives with these qualities who we can readily turn to for inspiration and guidance; and/or, a person we can be when serving others.
Here are some thoughts on how we can make the most of this energy during the coming month 🙂…
…as an aspect of ourselves:
Celebrate those qualities in you that this Malika of Cups calls to mind. Take some quiet time for yourself to embrace your intuition, explore your dreams, and make time for some self-care:
How will it feel to embrace your inner Malika of Cups?
What are your intuition and dreams trying to tell you? Maybe journal it? Maybe… <gasp> act on it 🤔
What self-care indulgence will make you happy?
… as a person in your life who you can turn to:
For most of us (I hope! 🤞🏽) there is a special person in our lives that we can turn to when we feel overwhelmed. Not the person who will logically and firmly guide us through our current troubles (a Malika of Swords, for instance) but instead, someone who will sit us down in front of their warm, cosy fire with a comforting cup of hot chocolate and listen to us with depthless empathy and compassion.
Who, in your life, is your Malika of Cups?
How might their intuition and compassion help you this month?
Is it time to ask for their help?
… how might our own Malika of Cups serve others?
There may well be someone in our lives right now, or over the next month, who would benefit from these qualities in us. Someone we love, someone who loves us, may need our compassion, intuition and emotional understanding…
Who, in your life, needs to benefit from these characteristics in you?
Who needs a hug from you, rather than a solution, right now?
How, and where, can you be the Malika of Cups during March 2025?
So… how does this energy sit with the year card for 2025?
Malika (Queen) of Cups… meet the Dervish (Hermit IX)
Our general card for the year is The Hermit IX2, represented in this beautiful deck by the Dervish. The combination of these two cards offers us energies reflecting deep internal reflection, and transformation, throughout March.
As I look at these images, I see both figures looking upwards, connecting with Divine spirit; emotionally and intuitively, in the case of Malika, and at a fundamental soul wisdom level with the Dervish. For us, the insights supported by this combination of cards imply a time of deep meditation, reflection, and respecting our intuition, that will be a key part of our growth this year.
This message resonates very strongly with the astrological observations from Alison Marie Dale at Astrum Opus (above) and I highly recommend your reading it in its entirety (you may like to enjoy it with a nice warm cuppa to hand!).
So…
In March, what is our wider learning from combining the energy of the Malika of Cups and the Dervish?
What new deep soul wisdom can we develop from immersing ourselves in our emotional growth, exploring our capacities for intuition, psychic development and offering compassion to both ourselves and others?
These cards feel like a pause-along-the-way of 2025, somehow. A year that has begun with frantic energy, especially for many of you in the USA, and unsettling changes for many of the rest of us. March is your coffee break… grab a pastry… and tune in to yourself… ☺️
I welcome your thoughts on the above, and how this reading resonates (or not!) for you... please feel free to comment below (I am very open to respectful disagreement and discussion!) and share this free post if you feel it might interest others, thanks... 😊
Love, light, and laughter... always,
I was thinking of discomfort in your latter sense, that of the excitement of discovering something new or rediscovering an old passion. It harkens to the onset of transformation. It is uncomfortable and anxiety provoking (thinking of a caterpillar's transformation into a butterfly) as one state is broken down to be changed into another. The growing pains of adolescence. I also have the transubstantiation in mind as we open our Selves to the Universe, to Spirit and allow our physical 3d plane body to be transformed by the Divine.
Your reading propelled me into a sense of freedom and openness after a long period of withdrawal. I feel like I have been a Hermit and now there is the new Spring ahead that is leading me out. And that is discomforting. But equally exciting at the same time, or is it the same emotion as in different side to the same coin?
Sorry for the lengthy reply!
Blessings of light and love to you! 🙏✨🌱🦋
I love this reading, Phil. It resonates with me in the sense of enlightenment and going through a phase of inner discovery - as I was typing the Ai generated predictive text was coming up with the word "discomfort" which I think/feel is accurate as this energy brings with it uncertainty. A passage of time to pass through to reach illumination.
Sending you many Blessings 🙏✨🌱🦋
