2025 is the Year of The Hermit IX
A little numerology goes down very nicely with Tarot... also, my first tarotbyphil post... enjoy!
Looking at 2025...
The other day, I read this by —Abby Rubenstein, Neal Freyman of Morning Brew (excellent email newsletter btw!)…
It’s going to be a pretty unique year—mathematically speaking. 2025 is the rare perfect square year, meaning it’s the square of an integer: 45. Soak it in, because this will be the last perfect square year you will likely experience: The last time it happened was 1936 (the square of 44) and the next time will be in 2116 (46 squared).
The above tickled my fancy just as I was preparing the text for the card that will influence us throughout 2025… so, I thought I’d share it here, for your wonder and delight.
The straightforward numerology for this year (2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9) gives us The Hermit IX as our Major Arcana card for 2025. Also, looking at the above from Morning Brew, we can see that the perfect square is 45 (4 + 5 = 9) too!
So, in short… this card encourages us to take some significant, deeply reflective 'me time' to process what, and where, we've been and begin thoughtful, well-informed preparations to help us understand the major changes coming to us, as astrologically, we have just experienced the real "...dawning of the Age of Aquarius" (ok, so how many of you heard the song when you read those words? G’wan, fess up!) signalling huge changes which will impact on us all.
The Hermit IX is a student of themselves and a teacher of experience. This card indicates a time of stillness and reflection in which we can further develop these faculties in ourselves.
So… simply… the following questions are a great starting point for embracing the Hermit IX energy in 2025...
Who can teach you?
What do you want/need to learn?
Who can you teach?
How can you share your light and experience with others?
Where are you heading, and what will be your first step?
There is, of course, much more to this card than what is written above, but that will be for another time when I post on individual cards, and readings. So, don’t forget to come back, ok? I’d welcome your comments below, what is your take on this?
The Hermit IX has always fascinated me…
I have always been a fan ever since I saw my first one (no idea when, but I was VERY young… once…) and especially since the day I saw the Hermit image on the brand new cover of Led Zeppelin IV (yes, I am THAT old but happily can still remember being blown away by Stairway to Heaven when I first heard it, on 8 November 1971 the day it was released… wow, where did all those years go!).
I was enchanted by the notion of a mountain top retreat offering peaceful solitude amidst nothing but the lightly fallen snow, a sympathetic light icy wind and sufficient silence to hear my thoughts whilst studying to become a great wise man and mystic. You’ve got to have a dream… right?
The majority of my life, spent in the UK, didn’t conform in any way to the image I have provided above. It took a move to a mountainside cavehouse in SE Spain 12 years ago, and a freak winter snow storm (the first one in 75 years apparently) a few years afterwards to manifest that fantasy.
With the scenery in place, all that was wanting was the wisdom…
With my retirement 7 months ago, the space was finally created to begin that part of my journey… so here I am, Substacking, having revived my tarotbyphil name, after a lengthy pause (necessitated by the complex business of earning a living in a new country) and… I have finally made the decision to become wise! I have dusted off my Tarot decks, engaged online with brilliant Tarot Readers and begun speaking publicly about Tarot and Numerology to whoever will have me.
I have often told people that I am at my life-happiest when I am a student of something that fascinates me. It is always true. A Hermit IX influenced year is a dream opportunity for me. In my mind’s eye, the above image fronts an oak-beamed study loaded with huge leather-bound tomes encompassing arcane esoteric mysteries. I will sit, creak open a book, gasp (in my own wonder and delight), and enjoy becoming wise as the candles burn gently down.
Love, light, and laughter... always,
